    When our routine is off

    September 16, 2011

Things go are crazy around here.

I should probably also title this “When Mommy and Daddy Mess Up Pull Out The Bleach and Earplugs”

I’ve been trying to start getting Atticus dressed for school in his bedroom rather than the laundry room.  Mostly because it’ll be warmer up there this winter.  Yesterday he had a poopy diaper when he woke up.  I left it in his room with ever intention of taking care of it after I dropped him off at school.

Sometimes he’ll wake up super early in the morning but with in a minute or two he’ll climb back in bed and go back to sleep.  Not this morning.  He woke up 4 am while Mark was getting ready for work.  Of course, not knowing our routine, Mark bounds up the stairs and brings him down to watch tv in bed with me.  NOT COOL.  He would not sit still.  He wanted to play.

After Mark left for work, I took him back up to his bed and hoped he’d pass out for another 3 hours at least.  He didn’t go to sleep, but he did play.  At 8:30 he starts crying so I went up to get him.  As soon as I opened the door, I started crying.  I totally forgot about yesterday’s diaper and now poop was everywhere!  We’re talking all over him, the carpet, his bed, the white noise machine, his toys, the walls, you name it.

Tired, he fought his way through a diaper change, had a breakfast picnic in the living (I pick my battles around here,) threw multiply tantrums at all the doors because he wanted to go outside but we needed to clean him and his room up.

Did I mention that his tantrums involve him screaming “HELP! HELP! HELP!”  Not cool when we are in a grocery store, parking lot, or just in general public.  I’m pretty sure he has far less of them than the average toddler but when he does it’s usually an all day affair.

I was able to do a quick clean up of his room, but there was no way I was going to be able to do a deep clean while he’s so crabby.  After his nap and lunch I’ll get down to business with the deep clean.

Until then, I need more coffee and some chocolate wouldn’t hurt either!
